Teddy Bear - Sheng

Regular price $29.00
This lovable stuffed teddy is named after Bi Sheng (b. 990, d. 1051 AD), a Chinese inventor who was credited with the invention of the first movable type technology.  Circa 1040, Bi Sheng experimented and created individual characters using ceramic (clay).  His technology greatly improved the speed of printing at the time.  Although rarely done, printing by ceramic movable type technology was still being used as recent as the late 19th century China - more than 800 years after Bi Sheng invented the process.  Size:  11".
